Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional experience in a business, media, or non-profit environment with a consumer focus.
  • Experience setting and executing communications strategies with a product focus across multiple countries.
  • Experience across a portfolio of external communications including advising executives, devising strategies, and developing solutions.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience setting a communication strategy across a broad portfolio of external communication programs including traditional media and new, emerging channels.
  • Experience delivering complex change programs to innovate on communication strategy.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team, with outstanding organizational and influence skills to coordinate with colleagues across various functions, locations, and countries.
  • Ability to think, plan, and execute on multiple projects concurrently in an organized and creative way.
  • Demonstrated ability to work calmly and exercise good judgment in fast-paced, high-stress environments.

About the job

As the Director of Product and Strategy Communications, you will lead on the creation of our product communications vision and strategy for EMEA for all our information, advertising, hardware, and ecosystem products. This will include driving major, region-wide moments on our priority products. You will also drive forward an agenda of innovation on the communications team in EMEA as we shift to new ways of communicating and adapting our approach to our channels, media outreach, social, and integrated campaigning.

You’ll also partner with our Corporate Communications lead and team to develop coordinated plans across policy issues, product launches, and proactive campaigns. Crucially this work will include working alongside the EMEA team lead to develop and execute on the strategy for the future of Google communications in EMEA, and the subsequent management and development of the Product and Strategy team.

You are a forward-thinking and decisive communicator who can collaborate across Google, who isn’t stuck in the traditional ways of communicating. You have excellent writing skills and an ability to learn fast, are a creative problem solver and a compelling storyteller capable of earning trust, providing consistently sound judgment and driving the team towards your future vision.

We help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders-and our own employees-about the benefits of Google's products, our distinctive company culture/values and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. You are quick-witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious. To succeed in this role, you are willing to try new things and can manage numerous projects with tight deadlines. Things happen quickly at Google, and to do great work, you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally with partners across PR, Communications, Marketing, Product, and beyond.


  • Lead the EMEA Product Communications team, helping them to design high-quality campaigns, regional events, and content that support our product goals in-country across the region, while also holding countries accountable for contributing to regional goals.
  • Build partnerships with key global stakeholders, collaborating across teams and countries to share information and build robust communications material/resources.
  • Create strategic communications campaigns that can be customized for various countries.
  • Interact with and influence product communications leaders globally and their executives, to influence and provide advice that helps them understand EMEA better, and in turn help them meet their goals.
  • Lead the development of a cohesive cross-product communications strategy for priority areas of focus for Google products in EMEA through long-term planning and analysis.
