We have an exciting opportunity for a graduate engineer within our Composites Manufacturing Department. This area is responsible for the manufacture of all key composite components and assemblies that form the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One car such as the chassis, gearbox carriers, wings and floors. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the designed components are transitioned into manufacture allowing for the most efficient part manufacture in terms of quality, lead-time and cost.

Key Accountabilities

  • Working closely with the design and manufacturing teams, you will be responsible for ensuring the bonding and assembly processes are controlled and operationally efficient.

  • Generate internal assembly instructions to enable manufacturing and control of build quality.

  • Support introduction of new parts or products from a Design for Manufacture (DFM) perspective and operational performance implementation.

  • Identify tooling needs and support the design of jigs and fixtures from concept through to final design.

  • Identify and reduce product quality issues caused by process variation.

  • Track/drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues

  • Conduct cost/benefit analysis for changes to processes and/or equipment.

  • Identify and implement process improvement ideas using lean manufacturing techniques.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a self-motivated, team player that is passionate about working for our team and has a willingness to learn. You should be capable of working to a high quality while under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Good communication skills are key in addition to being computer literate. You should have knowledge of composite assembly (both mechanical and adhesive) techniques and processes for composite parts, ideally gained in F1, Aerospace or similar industries. The successful candidate is not required to have extensive knowledge of F1. Good CAD skills are essential, and you ideally have knowledge of CATIA V5/3DX. The ability to interpret drawings and technical specifications and produce written instructions is required.

Qualifications Required:

  • Ideally degree educated in a relevant engineering discipline.
