Logistics Contract Manager
Welwyn Garden City- we are flexible on the location of this opportunity, it could also be based from Bromborough (Merseyside) or Staverton (Wiltshire)

Salary up to £55,000 depending on experience + car allowance and excellent companywide benefits

We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented individual to join our Cereal Partners Logistics team in the Logistics Contract Manager role.

A day in the life of...
As our Logistics Contracts Manager, you will be a pivotal member of the Cereal Partners UKI Supply Chain Leadership Team, ensuring outstanding performance from of our 3rd Party Logistics (3PL) providers Transport for the Cereal Partners Business.
You will be responsible for maximising customer service while minimising cost through effectively managing the relationship with them.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for ensuring that costs relating to both fixed and variable budgets are within accepted limits, improving efficiencies whenever possible
  • Set adequate target values for service and cost and effectively monitor the 3PL’s performance by:
  • Putting in place a structured continuous improvement approach based on the application of Tools, methods (DMAIC) and the implementation of Best Practices
  • Tracking productivity improvement
  • Implementing, monitoring and managing Safety, Health & Environment, Quality and CARE regulations and Best Practices; NCE Goal alignment key meetings
  • Driving initiatives for opportunities to Nestle’s benefit within the relationship with the 3PL
  • Support the development of our people in the wider Supply Chain function
  • Management of the budget for 3PL services
  • Ensure communication and collaboration with customers and other functional departments (Customer Service, Transport, DC, Factories)
  • Influence Distribution Management, Demand & Supply Planning and Customer Service by regularly providing feedback to continuously improve service and cost, ensure freshness and avoid bad goods
  • Working alongside Procurement to tender, negotiate and award contracts of a range of Logistics Services

What will make you successful
You’ll come from a Logistics or Supply Chain background and can effectively influence people at all levels both internally and externally. Your self-motivation and drive will help you succeed when solving problems in what can often be a complex and demanding environment. This coupled with your proactive nature and the drive for continuous improvement will be key.

Although you will not have any direct reports in this role you will act as a leader within the function and support the development of others around you.

You’ll also have:

  • Detailed knowledge of FMCG supply chain processes.
  • Experience of Budgetary/cost control
  • Previous experience of leading and managing a team.
  • Experience of change management.
