We are currently seeking a creative, engaging and dynamic inspirational and energetic Head Chef, Private Dining, to join our Culinary team. We’re a talented and award-winning Culinary Team that’s well recognised externally. Our recent successes include the coveted Hotel Chef of the Year at the Cateys for our Executive Chef (Simon Attridge), while Tatler Travel Awards recognised the breadth and creativity of our culinary offering by awarding us the ‘Best Restaurant Scene’ of 2020. Reporting directly to our Executive Chef, this is an incredible opportunity to experience and contribute to the Culinary excellence for which Gleneagles has long been renowned. Continually reinventing and innovating our product, you’ll create exquisite and customised Private Dining experiences, ranging from intimate dinners to bespoke themed events and weddings, for the most discerning of guests. Numbers can range from 8 to 500, and the opportunity to use your creative flair and experience is endless! Location; Auchterarder, just off the A9. Gleneagles is also within easy reach of a number of Scottish towns and cities: Edinburgh City Centre (1hr), Glasgow or Dundee (50mins), Stirling and Perth (25mins).

Here's a bit more detail on what we see you doing in this role:

  • Developing a timetable of Culinary events using seasonal and local produce to highlight the innovative and ever-changing gastronomic array on offer to our guests; planning and developing fresh, exciting and innovative new menus for our Private Dining experiences
  • Expertly managing the Private Dining Kitchen, you’ll ensure the operation runs without a hitch, striving for the utmost creativity, efficiency and profitability
  • You’ll build strong working relationships across the Estate, developing understanding and awareness of all of our internal and external guests’ needs
  • Developing an ongoing process within the Culinary teams which proactively plans and prepares for all menu changes, presenting these through food tastings, always supporting our teams to ensure they have fantastic product knowledge
  • Supplying Private Dining Managers and the Events and Resort Sales teams with creative and bespoke menus and propositions which will effectively maximise revenue and profitability
  • Building a high performing team culture in Private Dining; you’ll role model behaviours and lead from the front
  • Interacting with our guests, always warm, professional, helpful and doing everything you can to exceed their expectations; playing your part in making their stay with us 5 star in every way

The kind of person we're looking for:

  • You have previous experience working as part of a fast-moving, quality driven, Culinary team, at Head Chef level, ideally within Michelin and 5* hotels
  • A fantastic cook, with an outstanding track record; you never rest on your laurels and you continually strive to keep on learning and honing your skill
  • Adept at managing competing, and sometimes conflicting, priorities, you like it when your work stands out from the crowd and you make sure you’re always one step ahead of industry trends
  • You’re up for doing things differently and trying (almost) everything once
  • Highly motivated and possessing an immense sense of pride in your work; you're passionate about delivering the high standards for our guests in line with the Gleneagles brand
  • You have a positive “can do” attitude to solving problems in a professional and courteous manner
  • A strong team player with great communication skills and an enthusiastic approach; you're well organised and punctual with an eagle eye for detail
  • You want to be part of a team that works hard, supports each other and above all has fun along the way

  • The on target earning potential for this role is £47,300 / annual salary, compromising of a base salary of £45,000, plus a qualified estimate of £2,300 gratuities per annum
