Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our Cellular Pathology laboratory team as a trainee Biomedical Scientist. The successful candidate must have an accredited degree in Biomedical Science and preferably some experience of working in an NHS pathology laboratory. Ideally, you will be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, aware of laboratory processes and systems and with a genuine desire to learn new skills and knowledge.

The Cellular Pathology laboratory is committed to the quality of the service we provide. We have ISO15189 accreditation, and we are an IBMS approved training laboratory. The department receives 20,000 histology requests and 1,300 diagnostic cytology requests per year and provides an extensive immunohistochemistry service.

The department provides good opportunities for CPD and ongoing education/training relevant to the job role will be supported. The laboratory is also a part of the South 4 Pathology Partnership Network and is currently working towards a shared LIMS and digital pathology workflow.
