Job Description

Job Introduction

We’re looking for talented, flexible journalists to join our pool of freelancers across the West working for BBC Radio Wiltshire, BBC Radio Gloucestershire, BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Radio Somerset.

We celebrate our people and produce lively, personality-packed programmes every day.

And, of course, we’ve got one of the most beautiful region’s in England to work and play in.

Main Responsibilities

We need freelancers to cover project work, leave, weekends and for other ad-hoc reasons.

Whether you can read bulletins, set up or produce programmes, research stories or have another radio-specific skill, we’d love to hear from you!

Are you the right candidate?

You’ll need to have an element of radio experience, whether in the BBC or commercial sector and have some audio editing skills. Do please make your experience clear in your application.

If you can read bulletins, we need to know you’ve got a great voice and can write clearly and succinctly.

If you’re a programmes person, you’ll need to be creative, organised and bursting with ideas.

Or if your experience is more research-focused, we need to know about your resilience and nose for a story.

Experience of the ViLoR studio setup and OpenMedia is desirable but not essential.

For an informal chat about the BBC Radio West freelance pool, please contact BBC Radio Wiltshire’s, News Editor, Carly Appleby - Carly.Appleby@bbc.co.uk
