Since then, we have raised over $1.4M to scale our operations and secured a $400K Innovate UK grant to develop a next-generation hybrid eBike system for the future of shared electric vehicles.

Founded by Engineers and cycling enthusiasts Oliver Montague and Dmitro Khroma, Swytch is a close-knit team dedicated to creating low carbon transport solutions which are fun to use and good for the planet. We’re now growing our team to keep up with the unprecedented demand for our technology, and to be part of the electric transport revolution.

The Team

Technology is core to Swytch. We have redefined the eBike kit with excellent design and innovative technology. Our future is to redefine even bigger product categories, including complete electric bikes. You will be working on the next generation of light electric vehicle technology, that will have a huge impact on the way we move in the future.

To achieve this mission, we have assembled a world-class R&D team consisting of Engineers and Designers capable of pushing the limits of what is possible. We are looking for problem solvers, disrupters, and innovators with first class skills in design and technology.

You will be working under our Lead Systems Engineer in the R&D team and be in close touch with our Marketing, Manufacturing and Service departments for a clear view of how your innovations impact our customers and company success.


Primary responsibilities include:
Supporting our electronics design and development, from concept through to mass production, for the following:
Battery Management Systems
Power Electronics
Motor Controllers
BLE/RF Circuitry
User Interface
Designing and building functional test fixtures for multiple PCB projects
Developing and executing test plans and quality investigations
Assisting in pre-compliance certification tests (CE, EMC, RF)
Helping to develop and deploy embedded software on MCUs
Documentation of the complete electronics development lifecycle
Keeping the R&D lab organised and fully stocked with consumables

Experience required for the role:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar
Proven experience in developing electronics within an R&D role
Experience with developing both analogue and digital electronics
Experience in PCB design, using schematic capture and layout tools (Altium/Eagle/OrCAD)
Programming knowledge (C, C++, Python, etc.)
Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills
Hands-on prototyping & equipment experience (soldering, PCB rework, Oscilloscopes, DMMs, Signal Generators)
Hands-on testing experience (test equipment and measuring techniques, fault-finding and repair)
Experience of working with bug tracking tools and version control systems (preferably GitHub)
Experience of working with through-hole and SMT components down to 0402 size
Basic understanding of EMC and RF standards

Bonus points for:
Knowledge of e-bike electronics and systems
Previous development on an existing commercial solution/product
Experience in using advanced electronics equipment (spectrum/vector analyzers, logic analyzers, etc.)
Experience with automated assembly equipment such as pick and place machines
A hybrid work environment with the ability to work remotely (when not in the workshop)
