ROV Workshop Electronics Technician

The role

The ROV Workshop Electronics Technician will be responsible for preparing, testing and maintaining ROV systems, sub systems, assets and all associated equipment within the Remotely Operated Vehicle Workshop, which is a key part of ensuring that Fugro achieves operational excellence by ensuring that the ROV’s it uses for its sub marine operations are maintained to the highest standards.

Who you’ll be working with:

As a ROV Workshop Electronics Technician you will be working within the ROV Workshop team and will report directly into the ROV Technician Supervisor. You will also work alongside the Fugro project teams, logistics, Technical Manager and other ROV support teams internally and externally.

Here’s what a typical day would be like:

  • Undertaking testing, maintenance, preparation, repair and certification of all types of ROV systems and associated equipment in a safe manner

  • Maintaining and updating all documentation associated with maintenance, fault repair and equipment preparation

  • Ensuring the safe load out of systems and equipment for pre-mobilisation

  • Assisting when requested with the provision of technical and operational support to meet business requirements

  • Engaging with and participating in discussions with Project teams to ensure successful project execution

  • Engaging with vehicle manufacturers where necessary

Who we’re looking for:


  • Recognised apprenticeship in an electrical discipline (or equivalent)

  • Previous experience working on ROV systems and/or Subsea Tooling equipment either in an offshore or onshore environment

  • COMPEX certified

  • Knowledge of principles, techniques, procedures and the use of equipment required for the repair and maintenance of various ROVs and associated sub systems

  • Knowledge of integration, testing and operation of various sensors that are installed on ROVs

  • Able to read, comprehend and be able to follow wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, OEM manuals and engineering instructions

  • Good workshop practices and skills

  • Based in or within commutable distance of Aberdeen


  • Understanding of mechanical and hydraulic principles

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
