Main Description –

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Hootananny team as an apprentice!

As part of the apprentice’s job role, it would cover a variety of tasks across events marketing, promotion & planning. Some of the tasks that the apprentice would be doing include:

  • Facebook scheduling
  • Content sourcing and creation. Including coming up with concepts for alternative online content
  • Tik Tok
  • Twitter
  • Instagram
  • Mailchimp
  • Artist research
  • Brand outreach
  • Work with the music team to help develop social media strategy
  • Stage / event management on event days
  • Community engagement and outreach
  • Brand development
  • General venue development and input
  • Website maintenance

It will be an evolving role that will develop over time.

It is essential for the apprentice to have a keen interest in music and an understanding of the genres that Hootananny works with. They must be familiar with the London nightlife scene.

They must have a reasonable knowledge of how to use a variety of social media platforms. The apprentice must be able to work independently at times and be comfortable working on multiple tasks at any one time.

Not essential but great if you have video editing and / or graphic design experience.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at Grades A*-C or 9 – 4 (including English & Maths), Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths, or a relevant Level 2 Apprenticeship. This is a government. If you have not achieved these qualifications, please visit our eligibility page.


  • It is essential to have a keen interest in music, ideally with some knowledge of bands and DJs across a variety of different genres.
  • Must have experience of attending clubs, music venues and festivals.
  • Must be sufficient with Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • Essential to have an understanding of how to use Facebook, Instagram & Twitter. Even better if you have previous experience of social media marketing & management.
  • Must have an interest in learning about the tasks required of a music events promoter.
  • Must have a high standard of writing skills and be good at spelling.
  • A basic understanding of London’s club scene.

Non-essential (but great if):

  • Has their own laptop to work on.

  • Open minded to different types of music

Personal qualities

  • Must be an organised worker.
  • Multitasking is essential and being able to think about different tasks at any one time.
  • Must be enthusiastic and passionate about their work. We are a passionate team who really care about our work, we want someone who can share our enthusiasm and drive.
  • A genuine passion for music and club culture.
  • Punctual.
  • You will need to be able to work in a team.

Digital Marketer level 3

In-house mentoring

Things to consider

You will need to demonstrate excellent levels of commitment to both the qualification and job role. You will work at Hootananny 80% of the time, and study with BCE 20% of the time

Future Prospects

Future prospects will be considered upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
