Williams Lea and TSO seek a DevOps Engineer to join our team!

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our team working with our prestigious clients in the public sector. You would be working with products/applications which has been at the heart of British public life for 350 years, providing official intelligence on all UK businesses, corporate and personal insolvencies, and more.

The Job

Purpose of role

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer, to join our dynamic team and help support our development teams and our public sector clients. The successful candidate will be working in a team of DevOps engineers to support existing infrastructure and help build and design new infrastructure to support websites for with a range of technologies and for multiple clients.

The individual will have a robust understanding of DevOps processes and the AWS platform. They will need to be able to work alongside Development teams to improve processes and deliver robust, scalable solutions which meet our clients needs. They will be capable of working independently across multiple projects.

Skills

Essential skills to succeed in the role:

  • In depth practical experience working on AWS; VPC networking and security, IAM, EC2, RDS, S3. (AWS Certification Desirable)
  • Infrastructure as Code with CloudFormation
  • CI/CD pipelines particularly Jenkins
  • Linux server management
  • Experience with Git and Git flow
  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • Scripting languages such as Bash, Powershell or Python for automation

Desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of Atlassian products
  • Google Cloud Platform
  • Artifactory
  • Design of scalable solutions in Cloud Environments
  • Windows server management
  • Configuration and management of Apache httpd
  • Configuration and management of application servers; IIS, Kestrel, Tomcat
  • Relational Database server management; MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL
  • NoSQL and Graph Database server management; MarkLogic, Virtuoso, GraphDB

Main Duties

  • Developing and maintaining infrastructure as code solutions
  • Liaising with senior project stakeholders both verbally and in writing
  • Production of detailed technical design documentation & estimates
  • Patching and updating of servers
  • Automation of manual tasks
  • Review Pull Requests of other team member’s code
  • Provide feedback on process refinement where necessary
  • Technical support, including participation in on-call support.

The Experience

Qualifications and Experience

  • Educated to degree level or higher in Computer Science or relevant industry experience.
  • Experienced DevOps Engineer with a history of implementing robust and high-quality infrastructure for large web applications.
  • Experience of Agile development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Experience of providing client facing support is an advantage.
