Our basis and values

Barnardo's operates a range of services across the Black Country & Worcester Locality. This service delivers support across 4 local authority areas – Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton, therefore the posts requires travel to each area.

Objectives of Service

Barnardo's outreach and engagement service will deliver:

  • An intensive family support, capacity building and outreach service engaging with families that meet an agreed eligibility criterion, across 4 Local Authorities.
  • The service will operate in collaboration with existing family support services delivered by the Local Authority, voluntary and community organisations and wider children's services i.e. children's centre's/schools, focusing on routes out of poverty, low income and benefit dependency.
  • The outreach model will involve direct support in the family home alongside help in accessing a range of services/supports to enhance employment opportunities and facilitate increased income for families.
  • Our family support worker will operate under an outcome framework and distanced travelled built around individual needs.
  • Our service will work with families for an intensive period of time for up to 12 months.
  • Barnardo's will recruit local volunteers to support delivery of the work as coordinated by project workers.

Delivery locations: Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall & Wolverhampton.

Initial Specific Responsibilities

  • To support families in their own homes with a range of outreach, engagement and support models.
  • Conduct assessments, reviews and deliver of planned support programs.
  • Work with families to reduce the barriers that limit opportunities for education, training and employment.
  • Work with partner agencies to support families to access services to improve their outcomes.
  • Work alongside Barnardo's volunteers to promote with families to provide befriending and support .services.
  • Complete case file records, reports and outcome measures to support the service.
  • Develop relationships with a range of education, skills and employment providers.

Please note part time hours and job share will also be considered for this role.
