Aon is looking for a Chief of Staff

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by supporting our Chief Operating Officer to work with our Business Services Leadership Team to drive strategic initiatives and projects on a global basis.

How do you make an impact as our Chief of Staff

The Chief of Staff owns delivery of strategic initiatives that straddle across the global team and drive forward the vision of digitizing the firm. The Chief of Staff will be able to drive initiatives to completion, navigate Aon’s diverse and matrixed organization, act as a change agent, and present ideas and solutions to complex issues. Project management, stakeholder management, interpersonal skills, and relationship building skills are required for the successful execution of this role.

This position will improve governance by working towards decisions, maintaining agendas, and facilitating communication to the organization. The position will be based in London or Chicago and will be part of the Business Services Leadership Team.

What do you get to do?

  • Handle operational aspects of the Business Services Leadership Team and ensuring results are executed
  • Lead Planning & Business Management across Business Services, coordinating as relevant across other Chiefs of Staff across Business Services
  • Convene and lead the agenda for the extended Business Services Leadership Community, with a focus on interaction and multi-directional communication
  • Work with Internal Communications to build the communication plan and corresponding materials to drive the strategic vision and priorities for the Business Services, including coordination of live broadcasts, town halls and office visits across stakeholders within regions, solutions lines and functions
  • Lead campaigns to drive engagement, innovation and connection across different areas
  • In partnership with the People Organization, develop and handle the Business Services talent agenda
  • Provide support for the COO on our I&D initiatives to drive impact, partner with the Business Services Leadership Team and People Organization to ensure robust plans to drive progress, and means to measure progress and impact on I&D
  • Serve as a sounding board to the Chief Operating Officer, providing objective perspective to multi-functional issues that extend across the operating model
  • Partner with the Business Services LT members individually to strengthen performance and drive impact
  • Lead research and special projects and assist in the implementation on programs that have a significant impact on functional/enterprise performance
  • Continuously build knowledge about a variety of company issues – including knowledge and close working relationships with colleagues, clients and markets and a deep understanding of Aon and its capabilities, and the Business Services shared capabilities and business platforms that are key to Aon’s success
  • Promote the evolution of the Business Services vision and strategy
  • Be a participating member of project teams related to digitizing the firm and driving operational efficiency; including for instance building plans with key Business Leaders aligned with operating model transformation, capability development, platform expansion, digitization
  • Act as a liaison and change agent on behalf of Business Services, see opportunities for alignment, efficiency and new strategic initiatives
  • Track and monitor strategic activities to ensure goals and benchmarks are achieved
  • Facilitate the reporting and measurement COE that ensures a timely flow of key performance data and information for stakeholders across the enterprise to effectively tell the story of capabilities, platforms, and progress on our journey to digitize the firm
  • Deal with issues and subject matter that require the highest levels of sensitivity, discretion and judgement

You Bring Knowledge and Expertise

  • Proven experience in a combination of finance, operations and program management roles working in a matrixed, global organization
  • Experience managing and driving sophisticated projects to completion
  • Strong initiative, organization, project management and execution skills
  • Hands-on experience leading and delivering end-to-end global projects
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new environments and lead and inspire change
  • Ability to lead by influence and drive consensus among senior executives as well as lead and motivate cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams to achieve tactical and strategic goals
  • Strong work ethic and tenacity
  • Solutions-focused problem solver that will stick with an issue until it is resolved
  • Strength in relationships building and network development across a large organization with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal, ability to communicate complex ideas simplistically
  • Candour to give honest assessments and valuable advice and counsel as well as maintain confidentiality
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Operations experience not critical if the candidate is strong on required skills and has a strong learning aptitude
