Electronics Technician

BRE’s Security Team is a renowned and respected provider of security testing, research and standards that help to protect people and property from crime and terrorism. It is also responsible for issuing security product approvals under our internationally recognised LPCB brand, ensuring end users and other stakeholders can rely on those products to deliver the required protection against crime and terrorism.

In order to support that work, the team currently has an exciting opportunity for a proactive technician to join the security team to help deliver a first-class testing and certification service.

How will I add value in this role?


You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the delivery of electronic security product testing and certification projects in accordance with a range of national and international standards, as well as BRE’s own Loss Prevention Standards and client specifications.
  • Writing technical reviews and detailed technical reports.
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals.
  • Engaging with customers and other stakeholders in relation to testing, evaluation and certification of security products.
  • Assist with the continued development of BRE’s electronic security business, including the on-going maintenance and development its accreditation schedule.

The role may involve some travelling, mainly in the UK but on occasion might involve international travel.


What do I need in order to deliver this role?


Must have: (essential skills & experience)

  • A basic understanding of electronic principles
  • Qualifications in English and Maths (GCSE minimum)
  • Good communication skills(written and oral)
  • Basic IT skills, including the use of Word and Excel are preferred.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work unsupervised.
  • Enthusiasm, agility and be motivated to learn new skills.

Great to also have: (desirable skills & experience)

  • Previous industry experience of test and evaluation.
  • A qualification in an electronic engineering discipline. Exceptional candidates possessing other qualifications or industry experience will be considered if they can demonstrate the appropriate knowledge, skills and experience required.
  • Understanding of the concepts used by electronic security equipment.
  • Experience of quality management and factory production control requirements.
