This position is part of Novanta's Laser Quantum business. As an Electronics Development Engineer, you will be working within the R&D team and be instrumental in the design & development of our Lasers which are then used in some of the most cutting edge technology in the world.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Electronics design and development; simulation, schematic capture, PCB layout & BOM generation.

  • Prototype functional testing and verification.

  • To undertake work as per development processes, procedures and specifications.

  • Hardware and firmware technical documentation and document control of electronics drawings, BOMs and firmware.

  • Project management.

  • Oversee and guide Technicians.

  • Firmware design, development and verification (desirable).

General tasks

  • Strict compliance with the quality, occupational safety and environmental regulations.

  • Implementation of the instructions of the quality / environmental management representative and the occupational safety specialist.

Required Experience, Education, Skills and Competencies

  • Minimum Degree in Electronics Engineering or related discipline.

  • Proven post graduate industrial experience.

  • Good understanding of analogue, digital and embedded electronics with experience of microcontroller-controlled systems.

  • Proficient in Schematic entry and PCB layout (experience in the use of Altium Designer would be desirable).

  • Hands-on electronics experience; good soldering skills.

  • Good organizational and analytical skills.

  • Able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Good team player with ability to work independently.

  • Microsoft Office suite

  • Experience of firmware development (desirable).

  • Experience of EMC and safety standards (desirable).
