Manufacturing Engineer - Procurement

Working within the procurement engineering organisation of a global Defence aero engine manufacturer based in Bristol, we are looking to welcome an experienced manufacturing engineer to work with in our established team, to work with our suppliers to reduce non-conformance to drive to our zero defects culture. In addition to a competent knowledge of manufacturing engineering practices the role will involve statistical data analysis, manufacturing and measurement methods with our suppliers to identify root cause and corrective actions of errors generated during product manufacture. The successful candidate will be working in a team environment, on and off site and must have a proven track record of success.

Key accountabilities

  • Ownership of a supplier product portfolio of non-conforming part numbers
  • Responsibility for managing own workload with limited support
  • Communication with supplier and defence organisation on progress
  • To identify root cause and corrective actions via statistical and non-statistical methods
  • Responsibility for the reduction of non-conformances in a timely manor via key performance indicators
  • To work within company mandated procedures, behaviours and modern working practices.

Key Qualifications / skills & experience

  • A minimum of an engineering apprenticeship at Level 3 essential
  • Experience of Lean manufacturing and 6 sigma tools and techniques is essential
  • Manufacturing / operations experience is essential, as is experience in reducing non-conformance
  • Experience of working within the aerospace sector and/or machining would be an advantage
  • Having worked in a team environment is essential having developed good interpersonal skills at all levels
  • To be able to work well under pressure and to tight time scales
