Redgate’s products are transforming the way teams across the globe deliver software. Our products solve the most difficult problems across the development lifecycle, enabling database code to be integrated into Agile workflows, and database estates to be monitored and managed to ensure performance and security.
We’re a mature but high-growth business headquartered in Cambridge UK, with 400 colleagues across Austin, Berlin, Brisbane and Pasadena, scaling rapidly. Our products are used by more than 800,000 individuals around the world, from small businesses to 91% of companies in the Fortune 100.
We’re looking for an experienced, customer focused product manager to join our talented product team, bringing new ideas to help solve our customers’ problems and grow our organisation.
You’ll be working on the goals, strategy and delivery for one of our product groups, responsible for its success in the market. This means determining the biggest opportunities, aligning development teams, marketing, sales and customer success to deliver a coherent product.
Between feedback on UserVoice, forums, in-product analytics, user calls, community influencers, analysts, sales and marketing, everyone has an opinion on your direction. Luckily, you have great intuition about what’s really important, and the discipline to pursue evidence to (in)validate your ideas.
While previous experience of developer tools markets and Microsoft shops will help you be effective faster, they’re not a requirement. Your key skills are a mix of customer empathy and a world-class ability to ask the right questions. (To give you a flavour, the management culture has been shaped by Good Strategy, Bad Strategy and the Lean Startup.)
Day-to-day this means collaboratively planning and executing research to answer hard questions. It means spotting opportunities and finding fast ways to capitalise on them. It means working closely with User Experience, Development Leads and Marketing to shape the offering. A chunk of your time will be spent interrogating company and product data to help with decision making. Facing outwards, you watch carefully as the markets evolve, and you will help shape our community.
Product Managers at Redgate are less about day-to-day product ownership, with development teams increasingly leading more user contact and backlog management. We’re not done there yet though, and they’ll need your coaching before they’re happy to drive these.
It’s your commercial perspective that we value most. Whether you have direct or indirect experience of product management, we’d like to talk to you and see if there is a fit in our team.
At Redgate, you’ll be able to develop the skills you want, the way you want and we’ll be there to support, advise, and encourage you. We’ll give you the freedom, flexibility, and trust you to excel at what you do, including enabling you to spend time on personal development projects. You’ll be working with bright people who are experts at what they do. You’ll learn from us and we’ll learn from you.
Redgate operates as a flexi-time business and without a dress code. We trust you to get the work done in a way that makes you most productive and we’ll provide you with all the equipment and tech you need to do so.
Achieving work life balance has never been more important or difficult and Redgate is committed to supporting remote working throughout 2021 for all of our people, including those of you joining us! We’re also aiming to accommodate COVID-safe office-based working for people who prefer to work this way when and where we can.
Understanding how we can evolve our ways of work to offer flexibility and the benefits of both worlds after the pandemic is over is a key company goal for 2021.
Redgate are happy to fully fund all fees and charges related to the successful applicant obtaining a Skilled Worker Visa if needed. We will also assist with both the financial costs and logistics of your move to the UK.
At Redgate we recruit on a rolling basis, which means we carry on recruiting until we find the right person for the role. We tend to compare individuals to the role specification rather than to each other.
During the selection process, Redgate’s Flexible-Hybrid working model will be discussed, alongside the expectations for the specific role you have applied for.
For your information, the general principles are:
• For the majority of roles, if you can commit to travelling to the nearest office on a weekly basis, you can live wherever you like as long as it’s in a country or US state where Redgate has an office.
• Permanent working from countries or US States where we don’t have an office won’t be possible unless the job advert states otherwise.
• Some roles may require more office presence than others which might influence where you choose to live.
For the rest of 2021 we are supporting fully remote working for those that are uncomfortable returning to an office at the moment. However, you do have the option to come into an office on an occasional basis and many people are now choosing to do this, where our offices are open (Cambridge, UK; Berlin, Germany; Brisbane, Australia; Pasadena, CA).
