Job Description

Salary £40k – £45k depending on experience, Pension, BUPA healthcare



Purpose:

Engineer to join our R&D team, taking on hardware design, system design, and other related activities. This position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced design engineer to make a key difference in improving people’s lives. The role will be focussed on designing innovative new products to work alongside the latest versions of our existing product range.

Head office (Enfield House, Burton Road, Derby)



Reports to: Head of R&D & Chief Engineer



Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct technical research
  • Produce design justification reports
  • Collaborate in/undertake development projects
  • Design, build and test prototype products
  • Design, build and produce test schedules for prototype test rigs
  • Assist in the transfer of prototype designs to manufacture
  • Assist in the production of product support documentation
  • Assess existing products to identify potential areas for future improvements
  • Assist our electronics technicians with fault repairs on our current products
  • Provide second-line support to the Chief Engineer
  • Maintain awareness of emergent technologies and their possible applications
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety rules & legislation
  • Adhere to ISO9001 and company quality procedures
  • Attend training courses, as required
  • Promote the goodwill and ethos of the company
  • Other duties designated by the Head of R&D or Board of Management, as required


Essential:

  • Thorough knowledge analogue & digital electronics, including RF
  • Experience of full product lifecycle, from initial design to customer support
  • Multi-layer PCB design experience
  • Thorough knowledge of EMC issues, their origins, and resolution
  • Good knowledge of microprocessor architecture and communication protocols

Desirable:


  • Experience in developing for / good understanding of embedded devices, including Microchip PIC
  • Experience in developing for / basic understanding of Real Time Operating Systems

Hours of work:

08:30-17:00 Monday – Friday with one hour for lunch


Annual Leave:

23 days annual leave per year plus Public Holidays. 1 additional day of annual leave
per year served with company, up to a maximum of 5

applicable. 
